As we wrap up another winter season and welcome spring, March has been an exciting yet challenging month for inshore fishing here in Hilton Head. The constant changes in weather and fluctuating water temperatures made fishing tougher than usual, but conditions have steadily improved across the Lowcountry, especially for redfish and trout.

Redfish:
The redfish bite has been good, although the weather and water temps have kept the fish a bit unpredictable. We had success, particularly on low
tides on the warmer days. A lot of mullet are showing up on the flats and creeks making the artificial bite slower than normal. This should setup great fishing in the days to come.
Speckled Trout:
Speckled trout fishing has been fantastic on some days and slower on others, as the bite has been impacted by the fluctuating conditions. With the spawning season underway, we’ve been catching some impressive sized fish.
Looking Ahead:
As we move into April, the spring transition will bring more consistent fishing. With warmer water temperatures, we can expect the redfish and trout bite to improve. It won’t be long before cobia begin to show up, adding even more excitement to the season!
Tight lines and safe travels on the water!
